MEET THE TEAM

A MESSAGE FROM MISS TAHNEE

“ All little children love music and rhythm, and I discovered the key is to foster, nurture and encourage that love at the earliest age possible. As soon as they can stand most babies start to move to music. Being so young, it is a lot harder to engage the attention and ‘teach’ them about dance, than it is for older children. So I developed a method of combinations, and simple repetitions that have been tried and tested. The little ones in my classes hop off their mums laps and cannot help themselves but to join in the fun.

My motivation is to give the gift of dance and movement to ALL children.

There are a lot of parents who want something different in a dance class. They want their kids to be nurtured, ultimately and indefinitely. And they want to see them have FUN!

In the long run, creating a fundamental love and appreciation for Dance will prepare little people to make it an integral part of their lives. And this is the perfect thing to take from childhood into the adult world."

Miss Tahnee

Tahnee found her love of dance at Kay Horsey's Coastal Dance theatre at the age of 5. She grew up with her dance family & was lucky to have exposure to many different dance styles. She began a full time course at Brent Street before she auditioned for, & booked a contract with the Moulin Rouge in Paris, where she spent 3 yrs. She then returned to Brent Street as head of the Petite Dept, where her passion for developing a love of dance in young kids grew and it eventually became the drive to start Tahnee and The treehouse. Her catchfrase, "THIS IS HOW WE DANCE" came about because of her desire to do dance differently - with passion, creativity and nurturing.

Miss Rachel

Dance has been a part of my life since I was 2 years old, and it continues to bring me joy both as a teacher and mentor to young dancers. My training includes full-time study at the Marie Walton-Mahon Dance Academy & the New Zealand School of Dance. I completed all Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) examinations, including the prestigious Solo Seal Award, and was honoured to be a finalist in the 2004 Genee Awards held in Athens, Greece. While I enjoy teaching students of all ages, I have a special passion for creating a classroom where children feel safe, inspired, & excited to explore movement. Through storytelling, imagination, and creative play, I transform each lesson into a world where children can express themselves, build confidence, and discover the joy of dance in their own unique way.

Miss Ashlie

Hi, I’m Ashlie! 👋 I’m so excited to be part of the Cloudland South team, teaching Tap on Tuesdays. Tap has always been my favourite style. I love the mental challenge, the satisfaction of a great rhythm combination, and the fact that it’s something you can enjoy at any age.

I ran the Petites Dept at Brent Street for 2 yrs, and taught tap for around 10 years before pressing pause during medical school, and I’ve now been working full-time as a GP for the past decade. But the tap shoes are officially back on! I’ve been part of the Cloudland community backstage for many years, and I’m thrilled to now be joining the teaching team.
Let’s go!

Relocating to Namibia with her husband for Mad Max 4 gave Alana the chance to explore new avenues, becoming the personal trainer to producer Doug Mitchel and discovering a love for lifting weights. Alana holds a world record in her weight class in powerlifting. Alana’s drive to challenge herself saw her shearing sheep to a live audience at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, being the only female show shearer in QLD! We are lucky to have this beautiful lady join our team this year and welcome her passion to teach young dancers to be the best they can be.
